Bumpside Freedom, LLC introduces the FREEDOM 250 – the most patriotic truck ever.
[Laurel Montana, July 4, 2026] Bumpside Freedom, LLC founders Ned and Kim LaFortune today announced the introduction of their FREEDOM 250 commemorative series of remastered 1969 Ford F250 Ranger pickup trucks at the Laurel Grand Parade. Thirteen trucks will be built to suit customer specifications over the next year in Lolo, Montana.
The FREEDOM 250s are the brainchild of Ned who wanted to do something special for the most important anniversary of the freedom of America to date. The fifth-generation Ford F-Series (1967–1972) is known as the "Bumpside" because of the raised body crease running along the center of the truck's bed and cab. Bumpside Freedom, LLC has chosen to replicate Ned’s 1969 Bumpside known as “LunaSea.” FREEDOM 250’s will be available in only one color – Ford Lunar Green. The color was offered from 1967 to 1969 in Ford F-Series pickup trucks, Broncos, and Ford America step vans.
Henry Ford’s famous quote regarding Model T colors is: "Any customer can have a car painted any color that he wants so long as it is black." FREEDOM 250’s will only be available in Ford Lunar Green. Ned said “Kim drives a 1967 Lunar Green Bumpside daily, as I do LunaSea. From the day we started driving our trucks, it is amazing how many people are compelled to say something about them. We believe it is because Lunar Green is one of the happiest, most approachable colors ever created by an automaker.” “I see Lunar Green in the ocean where water is the nicest, which is also why LunaSea has its name. Kim often quips “really it’s a description of the driver.”
The couple chose to introduce the FREEDOM 250 at the Laurel Montana Grand Parade in honor of Ned’s father Edward who was a ranger in the U.S. National Park Service. It was when Edward was assigned to Yellowstone National Park in the 60’s that he met and married Ned’s mother Orene who was working at the Log Cabin Café in Silvergate, Montana. Ned said “it is amazing to be here with Kim for the most important day of any patriot in this generation.” “I watched the parade as a spectator in 1976 from my grandmother’s front porch with my cousins. It is amazing to be back 50 years later to participate in the parade and celebrate the introduction of the FREEDOM 250.
